Great one liners aside this film is superb.It’s based on the stage play of the same name & stars Harvey Feinstein (who also wrote it). Loosley based on his early life in New York’s drag circuit it never veers towards sentimentality too much. Indeed the script is sharp, witty, warm and in many ways hilarious. Top notch acting is provided by a sublime cast headed by Anne Bancroft as Harvey’s all controlling Jewish ‘Momma’. 5

Arnold is a strong character who fights to be accepted, loved and be true to himself.
